Summer Baseball Season!


It’s that time of year again!  Summer Baseball!  It’s 5-7 nights a week!  It’s good ball, but a lot of time spent at the field(s) for games. 

Can’t always eat take out or PB&Js. Speaking of PB&Js……there’s a whole generation of kids that won’t get to experience that “last minute, got nothing else in the house, and I’m not getting paid til Friday” sandwich!  That was a staple in the house growing up……….

Anyways, solution!? Portable grill, a cooler and perhaps some red solo cups…….. with soda water in the cup of course….we would never bring adult beverages to a game…….. hahahahahah!!

This grilling adventure was some Indian inspired chicken kabobs, marinated in yogurt and spices, minus the stick. Some grilled asparagus with a little EVOO and some adobe seasoning. 

Good stuff……… no leftovers!  Love this grill!

A day late that is!!

My first “real post”…….

Happy New Year!  

I’m getting off my buttocks and doing this.  Because the world needs another blog right?  There aren’t enough out there? Right?!  Sure.  Why not.  If nothing else it will help keep me accountable to….well, me.

First real post.  I’ve been taking pictures of food for awhile now.  Food I make that is.  i always joked to the kids that “its for the blog”.  But I didn’t have a blog. I had read a few here and there for recipe inspiration.  I took a lot of pictures of random food over the months and posted on Instagram. Sometimes people would even give me a ‘like’ on Insta.  It was fun. So one day I get all excited and figure I gotta get a blog site, loaded up some software and was like “i’m going to blog”.  Because I have so much stuff to share with the internet.  Only to have reality and life get in my way.  Ah well. (But its okay, because I really didn’t have that much to share with the Internet)>  So I have had this blog site for awhile.  Toyed around with it, posted some stuff up.  The other day i deleted all the old silly stuff, reinstalled the WordPress stuff and figured I would start over.  So here I am.

Then comes the end of the year.  I realize i’m old, fat and out of shape.  My employer likes me to be in shape.  I do the time honored tradition and make THE New Years Resolution. “i’m going to eat a little better, drink a little less and work out a little more”.  So that is my plan.  I’m going to share it here and keep myself accountable.  If nothing else this will be a journal of sorts over the next 12-16 weeks.  Why 3-4 months (see how I did some math there)?  Well it seems like that’s best “Couch to 1/2 Marathon” planning timeline.  I’ll run a 1/2 Marathon in 3-4 months (maybe sanctioned, maybe just 13.1 miles some weekend in a few months…who knows?!).  I’ve run a half marathon before.  It wasn’t too bad.  The best part was i was eating whatever I wanted during the training because I was burning up so many calories.

So, here goes.  My intent is to talk about the plan and goals on a regular basis.  Maybe throw in some anecdotal stories and some food pictures.  Lets see!

PS.  I’m not really sure exactly what I’m doing yet.  So if you happen to read this and think its pretty bush league….well it is…..I’ll try and get better!
